Meet Layydoe — Bold, Genre-Bending, Unstoppable
Born Chinenye Oguledo in Imo State and raised between Kano and Port Harcourt, Layydoe carries a sonic identity shaped by movement, culture and intent. Her Afro-dancehall blend pulls from Nigerian rhythms and Jamaican patwah — a fusion she grew into early through exposure to Caribbean music and community influences.
From Poshkayana to Layydoe
Her journey started under the name Poshkayana, with an early breakout on BlackBerry featuring Duncan Mighty. As her sound evolved, so did her identity — becoming Layydoe, a name that better carried her artistic direction, edge and voice. Over the last decade she’s built a lane many didn’t see coming: high-energy delivery, fearless performance, and a genre stance few women in Nigeria have pushed with such intention.
A Catalogue Built on Energy
From the explosive MASHUP moment in Lagos to fan favourites like KILLERMAN and MAKEYA, Layydoe has carved a decade-long path of commitment, reinvention and grit. Her records sit in a space where dancehall swagger meets Nigerian street bounce — a mix that continues to widen her audience both locally and across diaspora hubs.
What’s Next: The EP, the Album and the Brand
Layydoe is in rollout season — gearing up for a new EP and her next full-length album. It’s set to extend her range without losing the fire that built her following. Off the mic, she’s growing @laysskitchen, a food brand that carries the same energy as her music: flavour, intention and flair.
