The Sheer Publishing team had the opportunity to visit the annual DISCOP 2018 Market, held in Johannesburg this November.
Sheer’s Mpumi Phillips gave the “DISCORE – Elevate Your Pitch Workshop” for Music Industry Practitioners, which focused on synchronisation. The workshop highlighted scoring for digital music and music for television, the secret to getting synchs, how to identify which synchs your music is best suited for, and music ownership and rights.
Mpumi also served as a moderator for “SynConnect”, an event much akin to speed dating whereby composers had the chance to ‘sell themselves’ and their talents to the various music supervisors and production houses in attendance. Up for grabs was an open brief for Rhythm City.
An enlightening convention with an emphasis on content, adaptation rights and projects dedicated to Africa and the Middle East, the DISCOP 2018 Market was a valued experience for all in attendance.
