Sibongiseni Ngubane also known as MJIK’JELWA is a Maskandi Performing Artist. He has started his music career in 2001 as a dancer and song composer under the mentorship of late Khulekani Kwakhe ‘MGQUMENIi’ Khumalo. He composed several songs for Mgqumeni’s album entitled Ithwasa Lam. This is where his talent flourished out and his dancing skills were demonstrated. In 2009 Mjikjelwa extended his career as a solo artist, composing and producing albums under 4 different groups on an annual basis, these groups are: UMJIK’JELWA, AMANGCUKUMANE, OMENZELWA and ICHALAHA likaSHAFUZA.
Mjikjelwa has thus far released 18 Albums and 2 DVD’s as a solo Artist. Mjikjelwa with his unique talent has also produced music for other artists under his company (Mjikjelwa Music Production) which are Piwa Manqele, Nhlanhla Mseleku (one of his group dancers), Amafikalishona, Indodakazi YeNtandane and Mpilo Mkhwanazi. This humbled and amazing guitarist has been nominated on the SATMA, SAVA’s and AmaNtshontsho Awards and has won awards for:
Best Maskandi,
Best Popular Song and
Best Male Artist.
MJIK’JELWA has dominated and shown his talents on LIVE Performances in most annual events such as Maskandi experience, uTalagu Maskandi festival, Impucuzeko Skills & Developments Maskandi Festival, Awards ceremonies and many other events.
