The first-ever Botswana Gospel Music Awards (BOGMA) was a massive success! The event garnered support from many prominent African gospel musicians and associations; shining a light on the African gospel scene and providing a long-deserved platform for aspiring gospel artists.
Sheer is incredibly proud of its artist, Matthews Matsetse, who won the Best Songwriter award for his original composition, “Lion of Judah” – the gospel track taking Africa by storm. Matsetse wrote the song in 2011 and released it in 2012, but it was when Lebo Sekgobela set her sights on the track that the magic was created. The song has gone viral, reaching millions of people around the globe.
With 5 albums and 25 years of experience in the music industry, Matsetse had not realised that “Lion of Judah” was going to be the mega-hit song to relaunch himself as a gospel composer and provide the means for him to reinvent himself as an artist. He will be releasing his sixth album soon, which will consist of a live CD and DVD recording; a first for Matsetse.
