FREE COURSE: Copyright and the Business of Creative Industries

Jul 2, 2019 | Industry News

Explore the role of copyright in the creative and cultural industries.

Following the success of Exploring Copyright, with over 10,000 people around the globe signing up, CISAC and FutureLearn have created a brand new MOOC, called “Copyright and the Business of Creative Industries”. A MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) is a free online course given to a large number of people, so anyone who would like to join the MOOC can simply log onto the website and join.

Launching Monday, 22 July, you can check out the course today with a special video introduction from CISAC Vice President, Angélique Kidjo.

Creators, professionals, students and anyone else can join the 4-week MOOC for free.

Topics to be covered:

  • Who is who, who does what and who gets what in CCIs;
  • Different business sectors in CCIs;
  • How each sector produces economic results;
  • How these results are shared among parties;
  • What you as a creator need to know to get your share of this economy.

Upon completion of this course, you will build an understanding of copyright that is invaluable for creators and people hoping to build a career in cultural and creative industries.

This debut run of the MOOC is available only in English. The official hashtag for the course is #FLcopyrightbusiness. Don’t forget to tag @CISACnews and @FutureLearn.
